Just got this important bit of news from the Senate Conservatives Fund newsletter:

The Senate began debating President Obama’s health care takeover plan this week. Most of the attention has been placed on several swing-vote Democrats who might oppose the bill. But with the exception of Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT), these Democrats will likely find an excuse to support it.

Senators Ben Nelson (D-NE), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), and Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) cannot be counted on to do the right thing. They have made up their minds to vote for the bill if necessary and just need an excuse. If Sen. Lieberman holds firm, President Obama will need one Republican to cross the aisle to provide the 60th vote needed to invoke cloture, cut off debate, and pass the bill.

Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME) is the Republican most likely to support the bill. She voted for it in committee and is currently working to make small changes that could be used to justify her support. Sen. Snowe voted against the bill before Thanksgiving so it’s very important for Americans to thank her for that vote and encourage her to be strong.

Please call Sen. Snowe’s Washington office at (202) 224-5344 or send her an email here.

If you haven’t been following the NY-23 special election (U.S. House of Representatives), you need to. Here are a couple great sources:

Twitter #ny23 hastag

73wire trail blog (an American Liberty Alliance project; they’ve already broken several stories from NY)

New York Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman is the kind of new blood we need in DC. He is a true conservative. You know a person by their enemies–the NY GOP, the NRCC, and the Dems are all coming after Hoffman with both barrels, and in spite of the flak, he is currently out-polling Pelosi Democrat Bill Owens (by 5%) and Pelosi RINO DeDe Scozzafava (by 20%).

The election will be on Tuesday, 11/3/09.

Will you help get out the vote? The Hoffman campaign has provided a grassroots phone bank system which will allow you to call from home. This is more important than any protest or rally. We have a chance to make a real impact by sending a gutsy conservative to Congress and by sending a very clear message to the GOP that they will either win with conservatives, or lose without us.

If you want to help, please post a comment here and I will contact you with information to get started.

The 9/12 March on Washington DC is just around the corner!

If you would like to go, it only costs $63 per person. Small price to pay for such an important mission!

I have spoken with Maria Brady of the Boiling Springs tea party in Boiling Springs, SC. She has been arranging buses for folks who want to go and has space left on a bus departing from Columbia, SC. You do not have to drive to Columbia to board, however, because the bus is stationed in Spartanburg and you may board there. (If we get at least 49 people out of Anderson who commit to go, Mrs. Brady will arrange to have our own bus pick us up in Anderson.)

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. Seats are available first-come, first-serve. You must pay for your seat in order to reserve your spot, and Mrs. Brady must have payment in hand (check or credit card number) by the end of the day Wednesday, Sept. 2nd.

Contact:
Maria Brady
235 Brian Court
Spartanburg, SC 29307
864-579-8559

More details here (including the trip schedule).

Let’s have a strong showing in Washington DC to tell those folks to stop trampling our liberty! As Glenn Beck says, “We Surround Them!”

Most people don’t know this, but Senator Jim DeMint succeeded in passing procedural votes (one by unanimous consent) which bind the Senate to filibuster (60 vote) rules rather than the simple majority requirement of the reconciliation process. Therefore, without Republican complicity and votes, Obamacare would likely be dead in the Senate.

What the negotiating Republican Senators do will determine the end game. The Senators who have the power to see Obama pass or fail are:

Sen. Grassley (IA)

Sen. Enzi (WY)

Sen. Snowe (ME)

Sen. Collins (ME)

Sen. Graham (SC)

Sen. Bennett (UT)

These six Senators should stop negotiating a compromise and let this monstrosity die. The following URGENT actions are needed:

Visit, call and email YOUR Rep/Senator

Call and email the six Senators listed above

Write letters to your local editor and mention the six Senators

Post reminders about the six on your Facebook, Twitter and social media profiles

Post reminders about the six on your blog

E-mail your friends and family and explain the details about these six Senators

Contact the RNC/GOP and demand they put pressure on the six Senators

We The People employ these elected Senators. It’s our job to demand they do their jobs and look out for the interest of America. (Thanks to Eric Odom of the American Liberty Alliance for the tip)
